Southwest Airlines To Test Live TV On Five Planes

DALLAS — Southwest Airlines plans to sell live television service on five planes and expand it to more aircraft by mid-July. The airline said Thursday that it would offer seven sports and news channels for passengers to watch on their own devices. Southwest said it will test prices from $3 to $8 during a trial period. Passengers will need a Wi-Fi-enabled device such as a smartphone, tablet or laptop computer. American Airlines Agrees To Consider Merger Options

DALLAS — American Airlines says it is agreeing with creditors to consider potential mergers while it is still under bankruptcy protection. American parent AMR Corp. says that the company and its bankruptcy creditors agreed to develop “potential consolidation scenarios,” but that didn’t mean it would pursue a deal with any particular party. American Airlines Pilots’ Union Rejects Contract Offer

The pilots’ union on Wednesday rejected the latest contract offer from American Airlines, which is awaiting a judge’s ruling on whether it can impose its own terms for cutting costs that include eliminating thousands of jobs. The union’s board voted 11-5 to reject the company’s offer. American said it was disappointed that the union didn’t let members vote on the contract. United Airlines Pilots File Lawsuit Alleging Years Of Workplace Race Discrimination

Two dozen black pilots alleged in a lawsuit on Tuesday that United Continental Holdings, the parent of United Airlines, passed them over for management promotions because of race.
